Adelaide V. Pendergast, 98, died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Western Plains Medical Complex at , Dodge City, Kansas. She was born on March 8, 1912 at Spearville, KS the daughter of Bernard and Katherine (Issinghoff) Schawe.

She attended grade school and high school in Spearville. After graduation she went on to become a registered nurse, graduating from St. Anthonys Hospital School of Nursing in Dodge City, Kansas in 1933. On January 6, 1936 she and Leo Pendergast were married at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Dodge City. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1994. She has been a resident of Dodge City since 1987 moving from Ashland. She was a retired nurse and homemaker.

She was a member of Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Altar Society.




Survivors include a son Don and wife Lori Pendergast of Dodge City, a daughter Joleen and husband Al Graber of Winchester, Virginia and daughter in law Maxine Pendergast of Dodge City. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and twenty nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Ken.

Funeral mass will be held at Cathedral Of Our Lady Of Guadalupe on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A Vigil service will be held at Cathedral Of Our Lady Of Guadalupe on Sunday December 12, 2010 at 7:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Sacred Heart Endowment Fund or Arrowhead West Endowment Fund in care of the funeral home.
