Aielene W. Dansel, 81, died Monday, October 5, 2009 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home at Dodge City. She was born on July 6, 1928 in rural Finney County near Kalvesta, Kansas, the daughter of William Fredrick and Florence Beryl (Amos) Bayless.
She grew up at Kalvesta and later moved to Dodge City where she graduated from Dodge City High School in 1945. Aielene later graduated from the first class of Cosmetology of Dodge City Community College in 1965. On November 6, 1949 she married John W. Dansel. He died on June 13, 1973.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society both of Dodge City.
Survivors include a son J. E. Dansel and wife Karla of Jetmore; a daughter Ramona Klein of Dodge City; a son-in-law Carl Birney of Bucklin; 2 sister-in-laws, Carolyn Bayless and Bernie Steele; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her youngest daughter Peggy Birney on May 21, 2009; four brothers, Clarence, Lacy, Edward and Fred Bayless; and three sisters, Grace Winter, Edith Umstot and Marie Sullivan.
Funeral service will be held at the United Methodist Church of Jetmore on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Carolyn Tarman and Dr. Dyton Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery of Jetmore. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 from Noon to 8:00 P.M. at Swaim Funeral Home of Dodge City.
