Dodge City – Alan D. Esplund, 64, died December 11, 2020 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.  He was born on October 4, 1956 at Minneola, Kansas the son of  John R.and Edith Mae (Vandervort) Esplund.

He married Vivian Smith on August 22, 1975 in Dodge City, she survives. Mr. Esplund loved to go hunting and spend time with his family in his spare time. He also loved to collect John Deere memorabilia and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife Vivian of the home; one son Kirk Esplund and wife Angela of Bucklin; three daughters Mandy Camacho of Dodge City; son-in-law Frank Camacho; Samantha Iversen and husband Justin of Grinnell; Brandy Esplund and wife Amanda of Aurora, Colorado; as well as eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters Betty Reid of Minneola; Mary Esplund of Minneola; Sheila Esplund of Dodge City and Sharon Tomlin of Dodge City.He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Kathy Keys and one brother Gene Esplund.

Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Saturday December 19, 2020 at 1:00 PM with Mr. Jeff  Hiers presiding. Mask are required to attend the service. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.  Memorials are suggested to Alan D. Esplund Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
