Obituary

Montezuma - Our father and grandfather, Allen Isaac, was born to John L. and Caroline (Schmidt) Isaac on April 7, 1926, at Ingalls.  He peacefully passed away on September 10, 2019 at Hays Medical Center reaching the age of 93 years.

Dad was born and grew up on his parent's farm south of Ingalls.  He received his formal education at the Gray Center Country School near his home and at the Ingalls Public School.

When Dad was 14, he felt God calling him to repentance and was born again. He was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on October 18, 1940, by Minister Harry Wenger.

He found his life's companion and helper in Frances Kehn.  They were united in Holy Matrimony on December 28, 1947 by Minister David J. Koehn.  They shared life together for nearly 69 years. Dad loved our Mother dearly, and in her found fulfillment and direction that sustained him through life.   To this union were born 3 sons and 3 daughters.  Dad was ordained into the Deaconry on January 20, 1956 by Minister Ervin Harms.

Our Dad had an enthusiasm for life and the challenges it brought.   This caused him to put his heart into whatever task was at hand, be it farming, raising a family, or the work of God's Kingdom.  He took seriously his responsibilities as husband and father, guiding us with love, and teaching us diligently the ways of God. His greatest concern was for his own and his family's salvation.

Dad was genuinely interested in people, mentoring many young men.  He enjoyed serving with his brethren on various committees and church responsibilities.  His friendly and open disposition won him many friends whom he cherished. He always had time to visit with anyone that happened to come over or pass by where he was working. Often, he had an open way to turn the conversation to spiritual things or to give personal encouragement.

Those left behind with cherished memories are children: Carol and Richard Koehn, Scott City; Diane and Wilford Schmidt, Cimarron; Steve and Becky Isaac, Montezuma; Kelly and Deanna Isaac, Plains; Sharon and Doug Classen, Montezuma; Stan and Kim Isaac, Bruneau, Idaho; 22 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren, and 58 great grandchildren; 11 step-great grandchildren.  Preceding him in death were his wife, his parents, two brothers, one sister, one brother-in-law, one son-in-law, and two great grandsons.

Funeral service will be held at Montezuma Mennonite Church on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 10:30 AM with Ministers Charles Schmidt, Kalvin Salsbury, and Edwin Classen presiding.  Burial will follow at Montezuma Mennonite Cemetery.   Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Friday September 13, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Dodge City Mission Church in care of the funeral home.   Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
