Obituary

Dodge City - Allen (Al) Dale Kiser, 89, Dodge City, was born September 12, 1932 in Beloit, Kansas during the days of the Great Depression, and died November 30, 2021 at SunPorch of Dodge City under the care of Hospice of the Prairie in Dodge City.

Al served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict on the USS Hamul as a Printer 2 nd Class.

That was the beginning of his 35-year career as a printer and newspaper Linotype operator in several locales, including the Salina Journal. For a time, he was the owner and publisher of the Protection Post.

Al then took his mechanical skills to Dodge City USD #443 where he worked 15 years as a building engineer and school janitor, retiring in 1995.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dale B. Kiser and Rhama ( Marie) B. Vangilder Kiser, and his sister Dana J. Long and brother-in-law William (Bill) L. Long.

Al is survived by his children Becky Kiser, Hays, Eric Kiser, Wichita, and Kathy Wilkerson and husband Jack, Dodge City. He also has four granddaughters, Megan, Katie, Bridgette, and Vittoria; four great-grandchildren, Carter, Maddox, Carter, and Grace; nephew Dale W. Long (Kelli) and many other nieces and nephews.

Cremation arrangements were conducted by Swaim Funeral Chapel of Dodge City. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or memorial service. Inurnment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. The family extends their gratitude and thanks to the SunPorch staff who took great care of Al in their facility the past two years.
