SPEARVILLE - Andrew "Andy" Frank Naab, 89, died May 26, 2013 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City, Kansas. He was born on June 29, 1923 in rural Kinsley, the son of Andrew and Anna (Ackerman) Naab.
He married Rita Hain on October 18, 1949 at Windthorst, she survives. He served his country as a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater of War. Andy was a farmer and stockman in the Spearville area for many, many years. He also worked as a serviceman for Ross Plumbing & Heating. He had a passion for playing cards and Bingo in his spare time. Andy never met a stranger and loved taking care of his pets.
He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Windthorst, as well as St. John's Catholic Church, Spearville. Andy was also a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include wife Rita Naab of the home, five daughters Edie Kellogg and husband Schuyler of Aurora, Colorado; Janice Castillo and husband Rey of Spearville; Lois Wilken and husband Dale of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Becky Stickney and husband Rob of Overland Park, Kansas; Lisa Hort and husband Clayton of Garden City; two sons Lester Naab and wife Deb of Littleton, Colorado; Randy Naab and wife Tammie of Topeka. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters Dorothy Shook of California; Virginia Naab of Dodge City; three step sisters Tillie Weltz of Wichita; Louise Schroeder of Nebraska; Helen Lett of Wind Lake, Wisconsin; a half brother Leonard Peintner of Springfield, Missouri and a half sister JoEllyn Lubbers of Dodge City. He was preceded in death by two granddaughters, one brother Bill, a half sister Delores Ravenkamp, two step brothers, Oscar Peintner and Hugo Peintner and two step sisters Martha Fuller and Dorothy Ambler.
Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Ted Stoecklein presiding. Burial with full Military Honors By Howard Gotschall Post #1714 will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Windthorst. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Memorials are suggested to Windthorst Heritage or Manna House in care of the funeral home.
