MONTEZUMA-My husband and our dad, Anthony (Andy) Scott Koehn was born on December 21, 1965, to Joyce Schneider at Alma, Michigan. When he was still a baby, his mother married Pete Koehn, who then adopted him, becoming his father in every way.
Andy passed away on July 17, 2013, at Montezuma, Kansas, reaching the age of 47 years.
Dad spent his growing up years until the age of 10 at Greeley, Colorado. They then moved to Ithaca, Michigan. He gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized on December 30, 1985, by Min. Jerry Haynes. Dad moved to Kansas where he met Mom, Jackie Nightengale, and they fell in love. They were married March 9, 1990, at Copeland, Kansas. We had three amazing children: Cheyenne, Dillon, and Madison. In January of 2000, we moved to Center, Colorado. We loved it there and made many cherished friends. In May of 2005 we moved to Michigan. Dad loved being near his family and we made many good memories there. In September 2006, he suffered a brain aneurysm. By the grace of God, He gave Andy a second chance of which he never forgot and was so grateful for. Our lives were never the same. Dad was ready to share this experience and his reconsecration with anyone. Due to employment, we moved to Montezuma in 2007, and he began work at Country Feeds. Work was his passion and he could not say no and let his farmers down. Many of the farmers he worked with became his cherished friends.
Dad was a natural at sports and loved hockey. He was a gentle soul, a lover of children, and everyone's friend. We loved to have company over and Dad became something of a legend with his ribs and BBQ sauce. He loved to fish and we spent many happy hours at Walsenburg, Colorado. We as a family have many treasured memories of our trips to Frankfort, Michigan, to go salmon fishing with Brian. Dad had a sensitive heart and had many struggles. He leaves such a huge hole in our lives. He was my soul mate, the best dad ever, and we will miss him so much.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Jackie, his children, Cheyenne, Dillon, and Madison, all of the home; his parents, Pete and Joyce Koehn of Ithaca, Michigan; one brother Greg and wife Laura of Carson City, Michigan; two sisters Audrey and husband Jeff Litwiller of Ithaca, Michigan; Nada and husband Mike Schrock of Center, Colorado; his biological family of Arizona. Also sorrowing is Jackie's family: her parents, Bob and Jul Nightengale of Montezuma, brother Marshall and wife Julie Nightengale and family of Copeland, and her biological family of Alberta, Canada as well as many other relatives and friends of all ages. He was preceded by his biological father, Perry Larson and grandparents.
Funeral service will be held at Salem Mennonite Church, Copeland on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Salem Mennonite Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Friday, July 19, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Brain Aneurysm Foundation in care of the funeral home.
