Montezuma - April LaNae Rhodes, 29 received her angel wings December 6, 2015. She was born April 22, 1986 in Dodge City, the daughter of Lyle and Mona (Cervantes) Rhodes.

April graduated from South Gray High in 2007. Her dream in life was to join the military and her dream was fulfilled when she joined the Marines Corps in 2008. She was medically retired in 2012. After she retired from the military, she enrolled in college at Heritage College in Wichita for fitness training. She was very outgoing, compassionate and free spirited. Traveling and animals were her passion. April spent her time volunteering at Horse Therapy Ranch and with All Hands Volunteers. Her life consisted of many talents. Her laughter filled the room and was contagious to those of us closest to her. April was a breath of fresh air, never a dull moment with her around. Her dog, Dominic was her closest companion.

She has left a great void in our lives. Those left to cherish her memories are her parents Lyle and Mona Rhodes, sisters, Autumn, Summer ,Wendi, Daisy and nieces Cheyenne, Nevada, and Aspen all of Montezuma and many dear friends.

Funeral service will be held at South Gray High School Gymnasium in Montezuma on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at Evans Cemetery in Montezuma. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to HEROES, a military support group for active duty military, veterans, and their families in Gray County in care of the funeral home.
