Elder Arthur James Foote, Sr., 93, died Monday, February 16, 2026 in Bella Vista, Arkansas. He was born on April 1, 1932 in Shuqualak, Mississippi, the son of Tom and Rachel (Hoy) Foote.
Arthur grew up in Wichita and Dodge City. On July 15, 1950, he married Laura Lewis in Dodge City. Laura proceeded him in death.
Arthur was a member of Hannah Memorial Church of God in Christ of Dodge City. He served as a pastor for the Dodge City and Great Bend Church of God in Christ churches for many years.
Survivors include: two sons, Arthur Foote Jr. of Dodge City and Curtis Foote and wife Karen of Bella Vista, Arkansas; two daughters, Vanessa Baker of Garland, Texas and Sandra Wright of Dodge City; two sisters, Wanda Jean Brown and husband Wille of Wichita and Iola Pounds of Cincinnati, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Laura Foote; two sons, Larry Foote and Stephen Foote: two daughters-in-law, Theresa Foote and Louise Foote; two sons-in-law, Clearence Wright and Kevin Baker; grandsons, Adrian Foote and Christopher Wright; one granddaughter, Laura Foote; brothers, Kelley, John, Pete, and Cyril; and sisters, Mary, Calmary, Anna Lou, Geraldine, and Sara.
Funeral services will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Friday, February 27 2026 at 1:00PM with Elder Everit Ponder and Elder Mathew Bradshaw presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Swaim Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Hannah Memorial Church of God in Christ in care of the funeral home. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guestbook at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
