Wright - Art Cornitius, 84, died December 13, 2013 at her residence in Wright. She was born on November 22, 1929 at Pampa, Texas the daughter of Rev. Arthur Simmons and Lena (Adams) Simmons. She spent a short time in Pampa and Amarillo Texas and grew up in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Brackenridge High School. Art then attended Trinity College in San Antonio.

Art married Wilbur F. Cornitius on July 22, 1950 at her parents home in San Antonio. In 1953 Art and Wilbur moved to Dallas, Texas where they raised their children. She was very active in P.T.A. at her children's schools and was voted Mother Of The Year for the Dallas P.T.A.. She enjoyed staying home with her children. She enjoyed vacationing with her family in Corpus Christi, Texas.

She was a member of the Federated Church of Spearville and Chapter DZ of the P.E.O. of Dodge City.

Art is survived by her husband Wilbur F. Cornitius, Wright; two sons, Wayne Cornitius and wife Lynn, Pecan Gap, Texas and Dr. Tim Cornitius and wife Brenda, Wright; a daughter Pamela Putnam and husband Guy, Runge, Texas; four grandchildren, Matthew and wife Vicki Cornitius, Dodge City, Becky Reed and husband James, Okinawa, Japan, Ben Cornitius, Pecan Gap, Texas and Sarah Putnam, Runge, Texas; a brother Wayland Simmons and wife Deeanne, Goliad, Texas; two sisters, Joy Potts, San Antonio, Texas and Linda Holland and husband Roger, Burnet, Texas.She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Jill Cornitius and a brother A. L. Simmons.

Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. with Mr. Barney Korbelik, C.R.E. presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
