Dodge City - Audrey Maxine Johnson, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 24, 2023 at Brookdale Senior Living, Dodge City. She was born on June 26, 1927 at Kiowa, the daughter of William Robert and Audrey Elizabeth (Klingenberg) Withrow.

She grew up in Blackwell, Oklahoma and graduated from Blackwell High School. Maxine received her bachelor's degree at Phillip's University in Enid, Oklahoma and then attended Wesley Hospital Nursing School. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a nurse in several places in the United States and also in the Philippines,  Japan, and Guam. Maxine retired on July 31, 1977 after serving 20 years in the military as a Commander.

Maxine was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City and taught children's Sunday School classes for many years.

Audrey is survived by her nieces and nephews, Steve Withrow, Rebecca Ingram, Mark Withrow, and Sara Hill.

Graveside service will be held at the Protection Cemetery on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM with military honors by the United States Navy and American Legion District 8 honor guard. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.  Memorials are suggested to Wycliff Bible Translators in care of the funeral home.
