Dodge City - Augusta E. Perkins, 88, died April 21, 2018 at her home in Dodge City.  She was born on December 25, 1929 in Dodge City, the daughter of Lloyd and Lena (Kreger) Keenportz.

Augusta was a lifetime resident of Dodge City.  She graduated from Dodge City High School in 1947.  On November 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to Donald E. Perkins.  He preceded her in death on March 23, 1990.  After their marriage, they made their home in Dodge City, raising three children.  Augusta worked as a secretary for several businesses in town.  She later worked in the Ford County Treasurer's office until her retirement.  Augusta enjoyed cooking for her family and gardening.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dodge City.  Augusta also volunteered for the Salvation Army and served as a "Pink Lady" with the Hospital Auxiliary for many years.

Augusta is survived by a son, Rodney Perkins and wife Brenda of Dodge City; a daughter, Yvonne Hitz and husband Michael of Spearville; a daughter-in-law, Shari Perkins of Dodge City; one brother, Lloyd Keenportz of McCook, Nebraska; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband Donald, she is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Terry Perkins; granddaughter, Elisa Murphy; great granddaughter, Alanna Owens; and two sisters, Margaret Lightcap and Norma Springer.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Thursday April 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Steve Ormord presiding.  Interment will follow at Scroggins Memorial Mausoleum in Dodge City.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Wednesday April 25, 2018 from noon to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 6-8 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie or Ford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
