Obituary

WRIGHT - Barbara Evelyn Lutz, 87, died November 25, 2014 at her home near Wright. She was born on July 10, 1927 at Dodge City, the daughter of Daniel Bennet and Catherine Elizabeth (Bernacki) Downey.

On January 25, 1950 she married Philip Lutz at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Wright. Barbara enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, reading, and singing. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and was very active in the church.

She was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church and St. Andrew Altar Society both of Wright, Daughters of Isabella St. Rita Circle #210, Wright Senior Center, Sweet Adalines, and Church Women United.

Barbara is survived by a son, Steve Joe Lutz and wife Kathleen of Wright; four daughters, Mary Catherine Harper of Defiance, Ohio, Ruth Morton and husband Allen of Wright, Rose Chaaban of Kansas City, Missouri, and Joyce Koehn and husband Lyle of Wichita; 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bill Lutz of Lamar, Colorado; and three sister-in-laws, Louise Downey of Dodge City, Lucille Kitten of Salina and Yong Ja Lutz of Springfiled, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Lutz; a son, Phil Lutz; a grandson, SGT. Ben Morton and wife Elaina; and nine siblings, Genevieve Downey, John Downey, Eleanor Lutz, Raymond Downey, Henry Downey, Mary Reed, Daniel Downey, William Downey, and Bernard Downey.

Vigil Service will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 7:00 PM. Funeral mass will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Robert A. Schremmer presiding. Burial will follow at St. Andrew's Cemetery in Wright. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, November 28, 2014 from Noon to 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie, Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund or Fresenius Dodge City Dialysis all in care of the funeral home.
