IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara D.
Meanor
October 22, 1941 – March 31, 2023
Barbara D. (Wallace) Meanor, 82, of Dodge City, Kansas, went to her heavenly home on March 31, 2023. She was born October 22, 1941 in Denver, Colorado to Frank and Dorothy (Edwards) Wallace.
Barbara received her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1963. She taught 3rd grade in Aurora, Colorado from 1963-1965. After moving to Gridley, California in 1969 she kept herself busy with her children, assisted her husband with church work and offered in-home babysitting until 1977 when she became a substitute teacher. She was a receptionist in El Dorado, Kansas from 1978-1988 and then in Omaha, Nebraska from 1989-2011 when she retired.
While teaching in Aurora, Colorado, Barbara met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) E. Meanor, a young pastor at the First Presbyterian Church. They were married on June 27, 1964 in the same church.
Over the many years, Barbara was very active in countless church activities - she organized an after school program for youth and sang in the choir in Aurora and Gridley, created a toddler Sunday school program in El Dorado and Omaha, chaired several committees, taught Bible school for all ages, wrote and directed several Christmas programs, and led many Bible studies. She was a faithful devotee and never missed a day spending her special quiet time with God.
Barbara was resolutely devoted to her family, church and friends. Bob, Barbara, and their two children, Bonnie and Brian, were lovingly known as "The 4 B's". An angel in her own right, as the years passed she was gifted many angels and eventually amassed quite a collection even adding to it herself. She loved her Pepsi and her Crunch 'n Munch. Barbara loved to play table games and was a fierce competitor. She was notorious for her detailed notes and organizational skills. She and Bob traveled to several different places over the years including a trip to The Holy Land, Hawaii, Greece, and several bus tours throughout the States.
She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Castelli and husband Giancarlo (John) of Dodge City; a son, Brian Meanor and companion Ellen Ellis of Dodge City; five grandchildren, Kelsey Dalton and husband Tyler of Murdock, Kansas, and Nicholas Peters and wife Caitlin of Dodge City, Beth Castillo and husband Roman of Wichita, Kansas, Ryan Ellis of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and Derek Ellis of Dodge City; nine great grandchildren, Gabriel, Maddison, Micheal, Elizabeth, and Peter Dalton,Teagan Peters, Annette, Trey, and Alec Mack, one great great grandson Grayson Mack; a brother Donald A. Wallace and wife Mary of Chesterfield, Missouri, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband.
