DODGE CITY - Barbara J. Son, 77, died June 30, 2016 at Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City. She was born on December 2, 1938 at Jetmore, the daughter of James and Laura (Corey) Law.

Barbara moved to Ft. Dodge in 1953 where she worked as a nurses aid at the Kansas Soldiers Home. She married Charles Son in 1961. They moved to Montezuma in 1967 and then back to Dodge City in 1972. Barbara spent most of her life in Dodge City where she stayed at home raising a family and enjoying her grand children.

She attended the First Assembly of God Church of Dodge City.

Barbara is survived by her children, Beverly Deeds and husband Bob of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Sheri Willis and husband Stuart of Cherryvale, Michael Son of Dodge City, and Jamie Barrett and husband James of Dodge City; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Son; two brothers, James Law, II and Melvin Law; and sister, Nancy Staats.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.
