Dodge City - Barbara J. Waldron, 71, died April 9, 2013 at her residence in Dodge City. She was born on December 16, 1941 at Woodward, Oklahoma the daughter of Jesus "Jay" E. and Ruth (Ascencio) Martinez.

Barbara grew up in Copeland and graduated from Copeland High School in 1959. From May of 1960 to May of 1963 she served in the U.S. Air Force mainly in the Washington, D.C. area. On November 28, 1964 she married F. Duane Waldron at Satanta. She attended Dodge City Community College where she obtained a Registered Nurse degree in 1980. She worked as an RN in Cimarron, Dodge City Medical Center and then its satellite office in Montezuma. Barbara enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading.

She was a member of the St. Alphonsis Catholic Church of Satanta.

Barbara is survived by two sons, Mark Waldron of Denver, Colorado and Luke Waldron and wife Jennifer, Dodge City; mother, Ruth Martinez, Montezuma; three brothers, Butch Martinez, Copeland, Mark Martinez and wife Sherrill, Baldwin City, Tony Martinez and wife Geri Lynn, Saranac, New York; two sisters, Ruth Anne Waldron, Dodge City and Susan Riphahn and husband Jim, Ft. Collins, Colorado; a grandson, Nicholas Waldron, Denver, Colorado and a granddaughter Jillian Waldron, Dodge City. She was preceded in death by her husband F. Duane Waldron in 1989 and father, Jesus "Jay" E. Martinez in 2009.

A memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial will follow at Copeland Cemetery in Copeland. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans in care of the funeral home.
