Montezuma - Rebecca Jean Walker, 65, died July 12, 2024 at her home following a brave battle with cancer.  She was born on October 22, 1958 in Atchison, the daughter of Jacob Henry Weber and Jimmie Mae Hundley.

Becky was a lifetime resident of Atchison before moving to Montezuma in July of 2021 to be nearer to family. She was a graduate of the 1977 class of Atchison High School. Becky continued her education at Highland Community College and Emporia State University.  She worked for Bank of Horton and Sallie Mae, Glen Stecher, CPA, and was an auditor for the State of Kansas before going to work for USD 409 as the payroll clerk and high school secretary.

She married Joey Walker in 1992 at Sacred Heart Church in Atchison.  They later divorced in 2020.  Becky was always willing to help anyone in need, especially kids at the school and her own family.  She was a foster parent for many years.  Her home had an "open door" policy.  If someone was needing a safe place, Becky was willing to help them out.  Family was very important to Becky.  She loved to spend time with her children, siblings, and friends.  Becky recently became "Gigi" for the first time, with the birth of her granddaughter, Taryn.

Becky is survived by her children, Spencer Walker and wife Haley of Milliken, Colorado, Taylor Wright and husband Collin of Montezuma, Kyler Walker of Montezuma, and Bryant Walker of Montezuma; granddaughter, Taryn Wright; mother, Jimmie Mae Hundley of Atchison; siblings, Jeff Weber of Atchison, Genny O'Niones of Shawnee, Rocky Weber and wife Sissy of Knoxville, Iowa, and Susie Brown and husband Anthony of Eudora; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father.

Memorial service will be held at Morningside Community Church, Montezuma on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 3:00PM.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at Memorial Hall in Atchison.
