Satanta - Bennie D. Deaton, 78, died February 26, 2023 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses. He was born on February 4, 1945 in Dumas, Texas the son of Clark and Bonnie (Besinger) Deaton.

Bennie moved with his family to Satanta in 1951. He attended school in Satanta, graduating from Satanta High School. After graduation, he began working and worked for several area farmers. Bennie then went to work as a roughneck for a drilling company. Most recently, he drove a truck hauling away the salt water from the oil tanks. Bennie moved to Topeka in 2012 before returning to Satanta. He enjoyed bowling and dancing.

Bennie is survived by two children, Stephanie Zanghi and husband Ardon of Satanta and Kurt Deaton and wife Brenda of Liberal; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, James Deaton, Ida Mae Morris, Jack Deaton, and Nancy Beckett.

Funeral service will be held at Satanta First Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Rod Klingsick presiding. Burial will follow at Dudley Township Cemetery, Satanta. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Satanta Happy Agers in care of the funeral home.
