Bernardo "Nukis" Ramirez, 34, died June 9, 2011 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born on June 6, 1977 at Zacatecas, Mexico the son of Andres and Virginia (Castillo) Ramirez.
Bernardo was a beloved father and husband. He was a great friend and wonderful man. "Nukis was an outdoors person who enjoyed camping and fishing. Soccer was one of his passions and Bernardo was well known at the Saint Mary's soccer field where he would spend his Sundays and spare time.
He was a member of the of the United States Soccer Federation as a referee and the Kansas Soccer Association.
Bernardo is survived by his wife, Melicia "Mely" Ramirez; one daughter, Jenny; one son, Ricardo; five brothers, Pedro Castillo, Juan Ramirez, Adan Ramirez, Andres Ramirez, and Sabino Ramirez; and two sisters, Maribel Ramirez and Isabel Ramirez.
Funeral mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, June 13, 2011 from 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM.
