DODGE CITY - Bernice B. Anderson, 96, died June 18, 2016 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.
She and her twin sister, Beatrice, were born October 18th, 1919 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Floyd Dewey and Bessie Mae (Prentice) Pearce. Bernice and Bea debated for their whole lives which twin was the first-born.

She grew up in Montezuma and graduated from Montezuma High School. Bernice married Bill Nite in April of 1939. Their daughter, Terri, was born in 1943. After Bill was killed in an airplane accident, Bernice married Woodrow Anderson on Feb 27, 1949. Woody and Bernice owned the Anderson Pharmacy in Dodge until they retired in 1984.

She and Woody were active in the Dodge City Country Club and the First Presbyterian Church in Dodge City.

Bernice is survived her niece, Gayle Fry and husband Andee of Montezuma and her nephew, Kent Thompson and wife Carol of Louisville, CO; grand nieces, Nicole Fry-Frank and husband Phillip Frank and Lindsey Micks and husband Eric; grand nephew, Bryan Thompson and wife Michelle, great-grand nieces Adrienne and Andrea Bentley and great-grand nephews Greyson and Preston Micks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woody; her daughter, Terri Anderson of Longmont, CO, her twin sister, Bea Thompson of Dalhart, TX, and her younger sister, Dorothy McReynolds Rose of Dodge City.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from Noon to 5:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Dysautonomia International in care of the funeral home.
