Obituary

Cimarron - – Bernice Elinor (Spence) Magouirk was born September 24, 1927, and died peacefully at her home September 5, 2018. She was the daughter of Thomas Isaac and Eva Marie (Brock) Spence.

She married Lewis Glenn Magouirk in 1946 in Cimarron where she came to teach after attending the then Emporia State Teachers College. "Grandma Bernie" enjoyed pictures and games on her Grandpad and visiting with seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was active in Magouirk Chevrolet until her retirement in 1985. A lifelong teacher and learner, she was an avid reader and community volunteer.

She is survived by daughter Kathleen Holt of Cimarron; son Brent Magouirk (Jeanette) of Wichita; and daughter Marge Colbert of Amherst, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her husband and her youngest child, Jan Magouirk.

A Remembrance service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at The Shepherd's Center Family Room with a come and go reception from 1:30PM to 4:30PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Cimarron Library, Cimarron Golf Club, or HPPR Radio Readers Book Club in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel.
