BESSIE "GERTRUDE" MUSICK
Dodge City - Bessie "Gertrude'' Musick, 86, died May 27, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City. She was born on June 26, 1926 at Dresden, Kansas, the daughter of Elford and Bessie (Bordman) Foster.
She married Rex Musick at Great Bend, Kansas. They moved to Dodge City in 1950, and spent most of their lives between Dodge City, and Arizona. She worked for several meat packing companies in Dodge City. Her last position was a meat wrapper for Jones Meat Packing Company. Gertrude was an avid bowler, loved playing cards with friends and family, trying her luck at bingo, and spending some time at the casinos. In her youth , she was active in softball, playing the position of pitcher. Her husband Rex preceded her in death in July of 1999 while they were spending time in Arizona.
She is survived by three sons, Gary Musick and wife Maria, and Jim Musick, all of Dodge City, Larry Musick and wife Vickie of Buckeye, Arizona; one daughter Rexine McKinley and husband Mike, El Mirage, Arizona;
one sister, Alice Kolsky, Dodge City, one daughter-in-law Michele Musick, Dodge City; thirteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and ten step grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons Rodney and Chris Musick, and two daughters-in-law Nancy Musick and Ronna Musick.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Kirk Larson and Mr. Vernon Bogart presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
