Betty Jean Bushell, 86, died April 4, 2012 at Manor of the Plains, Dodge City. She was born on June 14, 1925 at Bluff City, the daughter of Hiram Elwood and Edith Maurine (Chamberlain) Summers.

She attended schools in Plains. She moved to Dodge City and attended Dodge City High School. She married Dale E. Bushell March 27, 1943 in Cimarron. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1977. She was a homemaker and co-owner of Bushell Oil Company.

She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Dodge City.

Survivors include one brother, Clayton J. Summers, Jackson, California; a son Ralph Bushell and wife Margie of Wichita, and four daughters, Marie Gall and husband Ronald, Dodge City, Carol Manion and husband Kirk, Branson West, Missouri; Donita Murphy and husband Dan and Nancy Ruby and husband Bob all of Las Vegas, Nevada; 10 grandchildren, Rhonda Ratts and Jared Gall, Dodge City, Karen Wilson, Tucson, Arizona; Rick Manion, Gilbert, Arizona; Shelly Buse, Overland Park, Jay O'Dell, Lillington, North Carolina; Dale O'Dell, Racford, North Carolina, Jesse Bushell, Wichita, Heath Bushell, Lakewood, Colorado, and Nicholas Haunschild, Chandler, Arizona. and 15 greatgrandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Phillip Lee, two brothers Paul Kenneth and Jack E. Summers and infant twin sisters.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Randall Jahnke presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Saturday, April 7, 2012 from 9:00 AM til service time.
