BETTY MAE (BURNS) HAMILTON

Ingalls - Betty Mae (Burns) Hamilton, 78, died January 6, 2012 at her home in Ingalls. She was born on November 5, 1933 in Wright the daughter of Frank and Viva (Baird) Burns.

Betty grew up on a farm around the Kalvesta area. She attended grade school in Kalvesta and graduated from Cimarron High School. She worked as a cook at Theoni school and drove a school bus. Then moved to Garden City and drove school bus for several years. She married Gilbert Hamilton on May 27, 1982 in Cimarron. After moving to Cimarron she worked for the nursing home and an insurance company.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Cimarron.

Survivors include her husband, Gilbert Hamilton; four children, Katherine Roberts and husband Marvin of Prattsville, Arkansas, David Simmons of Cimarron, Edwin Simmons and wife Debbie of Cimarron, Roger Simmons and wife Tracy of Idaho Falls, Idaho; five stepchildren, April Wooters and husband Ron of Elk City, Oklahoma, Tereasa Siebert and husband Bruce of Hillsboro, Kevin Hamilton and wife Nani of Elk City, Oklahoma, Julie Collige of Spearville, Mike Hamilton of Pocatello, Idaho; five brothers, Albert, Jerry, Ronnie, Bill, and Charlie Burns; 37 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Nikki Davis; one son-in-law, Randall Davis; and one daughter-in-law, Karen Simmons.

Funeral service will be held at Cimarron Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Randall S. Harrell presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Cimarron on Monday, January 9, 2012 from Noon - 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
