Obituary

SPEARVILLE - Betty L. Simmons, 84, died February 19, 2013 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home in Dodge City. She was born on July 15, 1928 in Dodge City, the daughter of Lee Ross and Katherine O. (Berry) Perkins.

Betty graduated from Spearville High School. On August 4, 1947, she married Don L. Simmons at Spearville. After their marriage, they resided in the Spearville area. She was a good cook, loved ceramics, and was a good seamstress.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Spearville and Daughters of Isabella also of Spearville.

Betty is survived by four sons, John Simmons and wife Wilma of Indianapolis, Indiana; Mike Simmons and wife Gwen of Sublette; Dan Simmons and wife Althea of Wichita; and Robert Simmons and Sheri of Wichita; one daughter, Susan Schenk and husband Tim of Westminster, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; one son, David Simmons; and three sisters, Lorraine, Ruby, and Edna

Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 22, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Spearville. Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be at 4:00 P.M. Friday, at the church. Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Spearville on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ted Stoecklein presiding. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Spearville. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City, on Friday, February 22, 2013 from noon to 3:00 PM.
