Sublette - Betty D. Wallace, died March 23, 2019 at Presbyterian Manor in Sterling.  She was born on November 8 in Rocky Comfort, Missouri, the daughter of Issac Newton and Gertie Goldie (Evans) Gill.

Betty spent her childhood in Rocky Comfort where she graduated from high school.  On April 16, 1955, she married Philip Wallace in Las Cruses, New Mexico.  He preceded her in death on November 19, 2014.  Betty and Philip lived in several locations while Philip was in the service.  In 1974, they returned to Sublette.

Betty worked as a proof operator in banks, both in Liberal and  Las Vegas.  She also owned Shotton Sleeve Company in Sublette, where they manufactured irrigation  socks.  Betty loved to spend time at Table Rock Lake with her family.  They enjoyed fishing and water skiing.  Betty continued to slalom ski at the lake until she was 75 years old.  She also enjoyed gardening, canning, and having coffee with her friends.

Betty was a member of the Sublette Christian Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Ruby Aho and husband Gerald of League City, Texas and Gwendolyn Garcia and husband Pete of Lyons; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Philip; a brother, Denver Gill; a sister, Pearl Cordwell; one grandson, David Philip Aho; and two infant brothers.

Graveside service will be held at Banner Cemetery, Sublette on Friday, March 29, 2019  at 2:00 PM  with Pastor David Erwin presiding.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette on Thursday, March 28, 2019  from noon to 7:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 5-7 PM.  The casket will remain closed.  Memorials are suggested to the Sublette American Legion or the Sublette Christian Church in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com .
