Bill Adams, 83, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at his home in Springtown, Texas. Bill was born in Dodge City on July 4, 1934, to Cleo and Charlie (King) Adams of Dodge City. Bill was raised on the farm along with his brothers Roy and Bud, and sister Nadine where the family was involved in farming & ranching. Bill attended school in Dodge City and Ozark Bible College in Missouri.
Bill was involved in the insurance business for many years before starting his own roofing company in 1969. Bill was a pioneer in the roofing industry, inventing numerous innovative commercial and residential roofing systems, and high tech roofing equipment that is still in use and in manufacture today. Bill and wife Carol taught themselves to nail on shingles by reading the instructions on the back of a shingle bundle, and went on to build successful roofing operations in Denver, Colorado Springs, Sidney, Nebraska, and several Texas cities.
Survivors include: his wife Carol of the home, his 5 sons, Randy and Wife Cindy of Spur, Texas, Larry and Wife Martha of Dodge City, Tim and wife Trudi of Lubbock, Texas, Terry of Dodge City, Billy and Wife Chris of Bucklin. Bill was preceded in death by one son Gary Adams, Bill's parents, sister Nadine, and one brother Roy Adams. He will be missed not only by his family including numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, but by the roofing industry into which he invested so much of his life.
Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery on Monday October 30th at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Dodge City. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
Bill had a soft spot in his heart for veterans.
