DODGE CITY - Billy G. Scarborough, 62, died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Kansas Soldiers Home, Ft. Dodge. He was born on October 11, 1948 at Hugoton the son of Haywood Lee and Frances Florene (Hartsell) Scarborough.
Billy grew up in Hugoton, Liberal, and Tyron, Oklahama. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War where he received the Bronze and Silver Star Medals. After the service he returned to Guymon, Oklahoma where he went into concrete construction. Billy later moved to Dodge City and was currently a resident of the Kansas Soldiers Home at Ft. Dodge. On June 30, 2000, Billy married Sharon M Tielbert at the Ft. Dodge Chapel. She preceded him in death on November 3, 2010.
He is survived by five sons, Billy Scarborough, Jr. and wife Erin of Guymon, Oklahoma, Cody Scarborough of Guymon, Oklahoma, Travis Scarborough and wife Rachel of Canadian, Texas, Jesse Scarborough and wife Heather of Guymon, Oklahoma and Matthew McAllison of Alabama; two daughters, Christy Lundblade and husband Bob of Turpin, Oklahoma and Amelia Guthrie and husband Justin of Guymon, Oklahoma; two brothers, John Bordwine of Dodge City, Kansas and Martin Scarborough of Texas; four sisters, Bonnie Scarborough of Amarillo, Texas, T.C. Scarborough of Texas, Mona Marie Scarborough of Texas and Mary Scarborough of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Dodge on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Vernon Bogart presiding. Military Rites will be conducted by Howard Gotschall Post #1714, V.F.W.. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.
