Dodge City - Bonnie J. Wellen, 61, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2020 at her home in Dodge City after a three year battle with cancer.  She was born on December 30, 1958 in Ransom, the daughter of Gene and Marilyn (Petersille) Suitzer.

As a child, Bonnie moved with her family to Scott City.  She graduated from Scott City High School.  Bonnie was a mother, a barrel racer, a roper, and a Rodeo Queen. She enjoyed running with her dog.  Bonnie showed kindness to others and didn't mind helping those in need. She was a tough woman and a fighter to the very end.

Bonnie is survived by her son, C.J. Wellen of Elkhart; two sisters, Lana Kramer of Scott City and Jan Whatland of Florida; and a grandson, Cory Wellen.  She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Cassie.
