Satanta - Candace Kay Widler, 77, died April 12, 2019 in Satanta. The daughter of Adrian and Goldia "Goldie" (Hart) Freeman, she was born on March 12, 1942 in Barber County, Kansas.

She and Lyle W. Widler were married on February 27, 1961 in Alva, Oklahoma. They moved from Marion to Sublette in May of 2005 and starting in September of 2016, she divided her time between Satanta and Godfrey, Illinois. She was first and foremost a homemaker and later a cook at Red Rock Grade School when her kids were in school and then worked for Wal-Mart until 1993. She was best known for being a homemaker and loved to take care of her family as a devoted wife, a loving mom, and fun grandma.

Her hobbies were reading, sewing, needlepoint, quilting, and watching KU basketball. She enjoyed antiquing and shopping and also enjoyed playing monopoly and checkers with her grandkids. She loved not only her animals but always wanted to adopt and feed the neighborhood strays.

Candace is survived by her three daughters, Tammy Holman of Strong City, Tracy Rogers and husband Kim of Satanta and Toni Barbier and husband Kevin of Godfrey, Illinois; two brothers, Larry Freeman of Medicine Lodge and Douglas Freeman of Satanta; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lyle W. Widler on September 24, 2007 and her parents.

A graveside Celebration of Life service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence, Kansas on Friday April 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tommy Webb presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
