Obituary

Ingalls - Carl Christensen, 87, died October 22, 2021 at SunPorch of Dodge City.  He was born on March 5, 1934 in Marshfield, Wisconsin the son of Victor and Katherine (Lowe) Christensen.

Carl spent his childhood years on the family farm near Marshfield, Wisconsin.  He attended a small, two room country school before attending Mansfield High School.  After graduating from high school, Carl went on to further his education at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.  He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Food Technology.  Carl worked for many medical labs throughout the United States.

On July 28, 1989, Carl and Carol Stover eloped and were united in marriage.  The couple moved to Ingalls in 1991 and Carl went to work at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City in the lab until his retirement.  After retiring from the hospital, Carl worked for IBP and Wal-Mart.  He enjoyed western history and was an avid reader of western fiction.

Carl is survived by his wife, Carol of Ingalls; two children, Inga Johnson and husband Chris of Madison, Wisconsin and Alex Christensen and wife Janelle of Stratford, Wisconsin; two granddaughters, Emma and Mollie Johnson of Madison, Wisconsin; a brother, Conrad Christensen of Marshfield, Wisconsin; and a sister, Evelyn Knoll of Mountain, Wisconsin.  He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

A memorial service will be held at the Ingalls Community Church on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 1:30 PM. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place.  Memorials are suggested to the family in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel – 1901 Sixth Ave – Dodge City, Kansas 67801.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com .
