Carl W. Wade, 90, died Thursday, February 19, 2009 at his home in Dodge City, KS. He was born on May 9, 1918 in Jewell County , KS; the son of Edgar and Ola Orpha (Cox) Wade.
Mr. Wade grew up in Seymore, Iowa, where he attended school. In 1937 he moved to Dodge City. He married Clara May Beadle on January 25, 1938 in Newton, Kansas. She preceded him in death on December 23, 2004 in Dodge City. After their marriage, they lived in Dode City. Carl worked for Hulpieu Miller Furniture after serving in the United States Navy from 1942 until 1945. After the war they lived in Hutchinson, and then in 1954 they moved to Garden City. They returned to Dodge City in 1957, where the had resided since. He owned Carl's Lock Shop for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Thomas in 1990, and one half-brother William Cooper in 1964; two sisters in law, Mildred Beadle and Slim Beadle and wife Ruby.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Howard Gotschall Post #1714, V.F.W. both of Dodge City.
Survivors include, one daughter, Pam Wineinger and husband Kent of Dodge City, one son, Gary Wade and Charlotte Gates of Arlington, Texas; one sister, Elma Hughes of Monett, Mo; one sister-in-law, Tish Morrow of Derby; three brothers in law, Frank Beadle and wife Maxine of Dodge City, Dale Beadle of Dodge City, and Jake Beadle and wife Clara Mae of Olathe; four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Monday, February 23, 2009 at 11:00 A.M at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, with Rev. Kirk Larson presiding. Visitation will be Sunday, February 22, 2009 from noon to 6:00 P.M. at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City, with military rites by Howard Gotschall Post #1714, V.F.W.
