Carla Kay Pettay, 56, died October 29, 2018 at St. Luke's South Hospital in Overland Park.  She was born on December 14, 1961 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Carl and Edith (Alberding) Pettay.

Carla moved from Hutchinson to Montezuma with her family.  Later the family moved to Sublette where Carla graduated from Sublette High School in 1980.  Carla went on to further her education, first at Garden City Community College where she graduated with an Associate's Degree in General Studies and then to Dodge City Community College, earning an Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Medical Records.

Carla made her home in Dodge City where she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Watching NASCAR, painting figurines and watercolors, and listening to the Oak Ridge Boys and George Strait were a few of her hobbies.  Carla also loved the company of her faithful pup, Toasty.

Carla is survived by two brothers, Darrel Pettay and wife Marilyn of Peculiar, Missouri and Kevin Pettay and wife Tammya of Grand Junction, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Pettay.

Graveside service will be held at Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 2:30 PM with Pastor Tim Tidenberg presiding.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Friday, November 2, 2018 from noon to 5:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to the family of Carla Pettay in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
