Dodge City - Carlos Estrada, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, was delivered comfortably into the open arms of our Lord on December 11, 2020. Carlos was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on April 30, 1945.
He married the girl next door and the love of his life, Margarita Gutierrez, on February 16, 1969. Carlos was a provider and through lots of sacrifice and determination was able to build a new life in the United States. His sacrifice allowed his children tremendous opportunities and for that we are forever grateful. Carlos lived his life in step with his Catholic faith and the teachings of Jesus Christ. He was a faithful husband and a loving father who loved telling stories, car shopping, and would do absolutely anything to make his grandbabies laugh.
Carlos is survived by his wife Margarita and his children; Norma Valverde and husband Hugo, Carlos Estrada Jr. and wife Heather, Rosa Boyles and husband Dennis, Fernando Estrada and wife Amanda, Veronica Estrada and wife Claudia, and Jimmy Estrada. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; Jasmine Estrada and fiancé Sean Peterson, Victor Valverde and wife Deisy, Noemy Arias and husband Efren, Karina Valverde, Zach Estrada, Alexis Estrada, Avery Estrada, Mia Boyles, Isabella Estrada, Xavier Estrada, and Ellison Estrada. He is also survived by his three great grandchildren; Aliana Valverde, Adriel Valverde, and Quinn Nelson. Lastly, he is survived by four siblings; sisters Carmen, Margarita, and Ausencia and brother Luis.
Carlos is preceded in death by his parents Alberto and Lazara Estrada, his sisters Manuela and Esther, his brothers Fernando and Alberto, his grandson Victor Hugo Valverde, and beloved family pets Cinnamon and Chico.
Vigil service will be at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Funeral Mass will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Wednesday December 16, 2020 at 10:00 AM. The funeral mass will be livestreamed on Swaim Funeral Home facebook page. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Tuesday December 15, 2020 from Noon to 7:00PM.
