Cimarron - Carol Fern Hargett, 87, died November 2, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living Center in Dodge City.  She was born on May 26, 1931 at Horace, Kansas, the daughter of George Kenneth and Lulu (Harper) Foster.

She married Roy Gene Hargett on February 23, 1952 in Dodge City.  He preceded her in death on January 30, 1996. Carol was a homemaker and seamstress, having made many quilts and teddy bears. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, sewing, and especially quilt making and square dancing. She made several quilts for family members as well as Quilts of Valor and various church ministries over the years. Carol also volunteered for the Cimarron United Methodist Church Food and Fellowship program for high school students. She enjoyed a good game of Scrabble and playing cards with her family in her spare time.

She was a member of the Cimarron United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Kalvesta Kwilters, Pairs and Squares Square Dance Club. Carol was also a volunteer for Hospice of the Prairie.

Carol is survived by one daughter, Debbie Walton of Derby; one son Randy Hargett and wife Debbie of Satanta; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be held at Cimarron United Methodist Church on Wednesday November  7, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Mike Keating presiding.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Montezuma.  Visitation will be at  Swaim Funeral Chapel in Cimarron on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
