Carol Lynn Oyler, beloved mother, devoted grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026, at the age of 82, at Brookdale of Dodge City. Born on July 14, 1944, in Dodge City to Garland Lynn and Ruth (Johnson) Phipps, Carol's vibrant spirit and unwavering love left a profound impact on all who knew her.
Carol attended school at Cimarron High School, graduating in 1962. A proud graduate of Sidney's Hairdressing College, Carol embraced her professional journey with passion and creativity. On January 19, 1964, she married the love of her life, Ray Oyler, and together they created a warm and welcoming home on their farm near Kalvesta. Carol was a faithful farm wife, working right along side of Ray with whatever needed done. As a devoted wife and mother, Carol raised four children, nurturing their dreams and achievements with tireless dedication.
Carol was more than a mother; she was a pillar of her community and an active participant in her children's and grandchildren's activities. Her love was demonstrated through her hands, crafting many beautiful crocheted afghans and making delicious peppernuts that brought warmth and joy to family gatherings. Her contributions extended to the Kalvesta Methodist Church, where she served diligently as secretary and treasurer, showing her unwavering commitment to her faith and community.
Her family was heavily involved in the Finney County Fair, where all four kids were 4-H members, helping with countless hours of preparation, her spirit of fun and camaraderie brought people together. Carol's laughter, kindness, and infectious enthusiasm for life will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Carol will forever remain in our hearts as a beacon of love, kindness, and strength, inspiring us all to live life to the fullest as she did.
Carol is survived by her children, Janell Robertson and husband Troy of Dodge City, Brian Oyler and wife Gwen of Cimarron, Leasa Wendel and husband Dan of Ingalls, and Lana Bryant and husband Rodney of Ensign; grandchildren, Rachel Fanster (Justin), Shelby and Tamara Robertson, Aaron Oyler (Taylor), Ashtyn Oyler, Christopher Wendel (Hannah Missler), Samantha Wendel, and Weston and Carson Bryant; great grandchildren, Ree, Jace, Brennon, Atleigh, Emersyn, and Stetson; siblings, Ronnie Phipps and wife Judy of Medicine Lodge, Rod Phipps and wife Linda of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Joyce Ott of Wichita, and Steve Phipps and wife Betty of Cimarron. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her parents; sisters-in-law, Ramona Mirt and Glyndis Oyler; brothers-in-law, Keith Ott, Max Oyler, Steve Gossman, Luis Mirt, and Daryl Rein; nephews, Todd Phipps and Jeremy Gossman; and niece, Glynis McCune
Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Cimarron Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Cimarron Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 13, 2026 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Cimarron. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM.
