Cimarron - Carol E. Smith was born Carol E. Beauchamp on November 9, 1938 in Sterling to Dr. Preston Earl Beauchamp and Bernice ( Bryant ) Beauchamp.
On February 20, 1954, she married Richard D. Smith "Dick" in Hutchison. Together they shared their lives, hopes, and adventures for the next 67 years. She spent most of her married life in Cimarron where she and Dick raised their three daughters, Sheryl, Kathy, and Robin.
She was known for her generosity and willingness to listen. Many of her family and friends remember Carol's love for animals. She had many companion dogs, some of which were rescues. A horse lover since her youth, Carol enjoyed riding her beloved Trigger when she was a child and later, as an adult, her horse, Dandy.
She took a creative writing course through Dodge City Community College and as a result, became a published author. She wrote several short stories and poems about her life. She spent her later years enjoying time with her family and friends. Dick and Carol enjoyed many adventures together, which included taking several cruises.
Carol went to be with her Lord on March 11, 2021 leaving a hole in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Dick; two daughters, Sheryl Lau and Kathy Quintanilla and husband Rey; a brother, Herb Beauchamp and wife Donna; six grandchildren, Angela Grasser, Tommy Grasser and wife Emily, Jake Witte and wife Michelle, Jessica Weigel and partner Christian Remuller, Preston Keese and wife Kelsey, Shayne Keese; fourteen great grandchildren, Jasmine "Gabi" Klemstine, Tyler Grasser, Abigail Grasser, William Grasser, Kendra Witte, Kaden Witte, Kara Witte, Joseph Witte and wife Ashley, Kyler Witte, Mason Witte, Oryanna Witte, Lillian Keese, Levi Keese, and Nathan Witte; three great great grandchildren, Emrie Witte, McKynlee Witte, and Remelle Lovette. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Robin Smith, and grandson Staff Sgt Kevin Witte.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Cimarron with Rev. Richard Deimund presiding. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at 4:00 PM at the Cimarron Cemetery. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie or Gray County EMS in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
