Obituary

Hutchinson - Carol Sue Strobel, 82, died August 13, 2023 at The Arbors at Waldron Place, Hutchinson.  She was born on September 12, 1940 at La Crosse, the daughter of George H. and Edith C. (Williams) Kaiser.

Carol lived on the Williams family farm until she was four years old, then moving with her family to Hoisington, and then to Great Bend in 1952. She graduated from Great Bend High School in 1958. After graduation, Carol attended Fort Hays State University. On August 29, 1959, Carol married Ken W. Strobel in Great Bend. After living in Winfield, Wichita, and Topeka, Carol and Ken moved to Dodge City in 1965, where they were active members of the community.

Carol worked for the state of Kansas for 30 years; working for Winfield State Home, Washburn University and Dodge City High School/AVTS School. Educational activities consumed volunteer time for Carol; serving sixteen years on the Dodge City Community College Board of Trustees, PTA, and other child related activities. Carol was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Dodge City as well as the Keystone Sunday School Class.

She is survived by four sons, T. Craig Strobel and wife Ann and daughters, Roseanne and husband Leon, and their daughter Raelynn, Jenna and Kaylee of New Port Richey, Florida; Christopher S. Strobel and wife Janelle and sons, Tasker and Spencer of Avon, Indiana; Wm. Connan Strobel and wife Robin and daughters Jaden and husband Justin, Taryn, Brooklyn, and son Daxton of Andover; Geo. Corbin Strobel and wife Emily and daughters, Peyton and Maggie of Hutchinson, Kansas; and one daughter, Kendall C. Hackerott and her husband Kevin and their daughters, Kennedy, Kade and Karsyn of Edinburg, Texas; as well as two nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Edith Kaiser; husband, Ken Strobel; sister, Sylvia Byer; and grandparents, James S. and Mary (Riggs) Williams and Henry and Orpha (Fairbank) Kaiser.

Funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Dodge City on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jerre Nolte presiding.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family present from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to The Arbors at Waldron Place of Hutchinson in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
