Carolene (Kelly) St. Lawrence, 86, joined her heavenly family and friends on June 3, 2016. Born on December 15, 1929 in Spearville, she was a lifelong resident of the Dodge City area. She was the daughter of John and Mary (Hemphill) Heinrich.
Carolene attended school in Ford and Bucklin and worked numerous jobs in and around Dodge City including Peters Liquor Store and Wal-Mart. As a greeter, she made numerous friends and enjoyed joking with them and passing our Dum-Dum suckers and placing smiley face stickers on children's shoes. She had a kind heart, especially when it came to strays. Some of her favorite things included gardening, traveling, casinos, spending time with family and her beloved cat, Mr. Meow.
Carolene is survived by her children, Janice (Thompson) Redger and husband Ben of Newton, James Thompson and wife Debbie of Olathe, and Carla Dawson and husband Ron of Fowler; step-daughter, Melissa Waters and husband Shane of Fowler; seven grandchildren, four step grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; and Mr. Meow.She was preceded in death by her husband James H. St. Lawrence in 1977; her parents; and two brothers.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Inurnment will follow at Fowler Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the book on Friday, June 10, 2016 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
