Cimarron - Carolyn Pearl Crotts, 82, died January 1, 2018 at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita, Kansas. She was born on November 3, 1935 in Dodge City, Kansas. She was the daughter of Ed DeVore and Pearl (Suiter) DeVore.
Carolyn graduated from Macksville High School in 1953. She married Johnny L. Hager on March 27, 1955 in Macksville, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 24, 1958. Carolyn graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelors Degree in English. She later completed a Masters Degree in Library Science from Emporia State University. It was while at Fort Hays State that she met Robert Gene Crotts of Partridge, Kansas.
Carolyn and Robert Crotts were united in marriage on August 25, 1960 in Hutchinson, Kansas. They made their home in Cimarron in 1961. Carolyn was a teacher and librarian in Montezuma, Kansas for 19 years, Macksville, Kansas for 2 years and 11 years at Cimarron High School. She was a teacher and librarian for 32 years before retiring in 1998.
Carolyn was a member of the Cimarron First Christian Church, KSU Extension – Happy Hour Unit, Kansas Library Association, and a Lifetime member of Fort Hays State University Alumni Association.
Carolyn is survived by her seven children Diane Miller of Falcon, Colorado, Johnny Crotts of Orlando, Florida, Jeffrey Crotts of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, Rosie Ediger of Alpharetta, Georgia, Sandy Crotts of Sacramento, California, Sharon Kelly of Parker, Colorado and David Crotts of Emporia, Kansas. She is also survived by 14 Grandchildren Johnathan, Jessica, Jennifer, Christa, Catrina, Johnny, Charla, Cara, Brenna, Brooke, Rachel, Kade, Aaron, Avery and 9 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert Crotts.
Funeral service will be held at Cimarron First Christian Church on Friday January 5, 2018 at 10:30 AM with Pastor David Johnson presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Cimarron on January 4, 2018 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM . Memorials are suggested to Cimarron Christian Church or the Cimarron Library in care of Swaim Funeral Home 1901 6 th Ave. Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
