Dodge City - Carolyn Ruth Stude, 77, died January 14, 2023 at St. Catherine Hospital of Dodge City. She was born on December 15, 1945 in Dodge City, the daughter of Herman and Vera (Brock) Stude.
Carolyn's early childhood was spent in Bucklin. Her family then moved to the farm northwest of Dodge City, near St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Hodgeman County. As a teen, she attended the Kansas School for the Blind in Kansas City. Carolyn became an resident of Arrowhead West and lived there for 35 years. Recently, she had moved to Trinity Manor in Dodge City. Carolyn enjoyed talking with her family and friends.
She is survived by two brothers, Alvin Stude and wife Cindy of Elizabeth, Colorado and Jerry Stude and wife Arlene of Dodge City; brother-in-law, Kevin Kirmer of Dodge City; three nephews, Erik Stude of Pueblo, Colorado, Kyler Stude of Wichita, and Tom Stude of Dodge City; three nieces, Traci Welch of Hooker, Oklahoma, Donna Pacheco of Thorton, Colorado, and Jennifer Wing of Denver, Colorado; and aunts, uncles, and cousins. Carolyn is preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Kirmer.
Funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Dodge City on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery in Hodgeman County. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Monday, January 23, 2023 from noon to 5:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Arrowhead West in care of the funeral home.
