CASSIE V. LEWIS
Dodge City - Cassie Valine Lewis, 92, died May 28, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City. She was born on February 19, 1920 at Minneola, the daughter of Valentine and Johonna (Nitz) Brokar.
She married Harley W. Lewis in 1952 in Dodge City. They moved to Denver, Colorado in 1960, and were blessed with a daughter Donna Lewis in 1965. On December 26, 1970, Harley passed away in Denver. For the next thirty eight years, Cassie and Donna lived in Denver where Cassie worked as a certified public accountant. In 2009 because of failing health, Cassie was moved to a care facility in Dodge City, and Donna became a member of her cousins family in Kinsley. Cassie will always be remembered for her love of children.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Lewis, Kinsley, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Aaron Kirkwood presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.
