DODGE CITY- Catherine "Kay" E. Donaldson, 89, died Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Western Plains Medical Complex at Dodge City, KS. She was born on March 1, 1921 in Maryville, Missouri, the daughter of Harvey and Jessie (Porterfield) Cockayne.

Kay married Archie B. Donaldson on July 1, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1995. A longtime resident of Dodge City, she devoted many years of volunteer work to the hospitals and charities. Kay and Archie traveled extensively all over the world. They also went to many sporting events for Kansas and Oklahoma Universities.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Dodge City.

Survivors include one son Bruce Donaldson of Winter Park, Florida; two daughters Judi Slattery and husband Ken of Joplin, Missouri; and Debbie Shepherd and husband David of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Timothy Slattery and wife Felicia; Brandi Triplett and husband Jeff, Kaci Nhem and husband Paul, and Zac Shepherd. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Kaley and Dylan Slattery, Riley and Chase Triplett, and McKenna and Chance Nhem. She was preceded in death by her parents, and six brothers and their spouses.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Mr. Phil Scott presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City, KS. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to First Christian Church, Dodge City, in care of the funeral home.
