Cimarron - Cathy Lyne (Kidwell) Staats was born on June 28, 1953 in Scott City, the daughter of Earnest "Ernie" and Pauline (Wilson) Kidwell, Sr.  Cathy passed away on August 22, 2018 at her home in Cimarron, where she had lived for 45 years.  She was 65 years old.

Cathy attended school in Scott City.  On July 8, 1972, she married Ron Staats.  He survives.  They soon moved to Cimarron where they made their home and raised their children.  Cathy worked at Cimarron Insurance and the Ingalls COOP.  When Ron opened his shop, Cathy became the bookkeeper and official greeter.  She so enjoyed visiting with the customers and friends.

Cathy was a member of the Scott City First Christian Church. In recent years, she attended the First Baptist Church of Cimarron.

Cathy is survived by her husband Ron Staats of Cimarron; three children, Andy Staats of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Rod Staats and wife Kallie of Cimarron, and Kendra Willard and husband Reuben of Midland, Texas; three sisters, Mary Kasselman and husband Paul and Valyndia Payne and husband Steve all of Scott City and Helen Trahern and husband Mike of Cimarron; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Kidwell of Kearney, Nebraska and Joyce Kidwell of Maize.  She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Neal, and two brothers, Ernie Kidwell, Jr. and Gene Kidwell.

Funeral service will be held at Cimarron Baptist Church on Monday August 27, 2018 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Richard Deimund presiding.  Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Cimarron on Sunday August 26, 2018 from noon to 6:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 4-6 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Lift Them Up International in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
