Obituary

Fort Dodge - Cecil Boston, 70, died February 9, 2019 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born on May 18, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of John and Aivante (Vincent) Boston.

After completing high school, Cecil enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country.  After his discharge, Cecil worked for a time as a police officer in New York City.  Cecil enjoyed playing chess, singing, and playing the piano.  In 2018, Cecil moved to Halsey Hall at Fort Dodge.  Often on his outings to Walmart, Cecil would bring back sweet potato pies to share with everyone at Halsey Hall. He will be missed by his Fort Dodge family.

Cecil is survived by two sons, a daughter, and a brother.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside service and burial will be held at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Fort Dodge on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 1:00 PM with Chaplain Shawn Fletcher presiding. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy Funeral Honor Guard and the American Legion Post #47. There is no visitation.  Memorials are suggested to the Fort Dodge Patient Activity Fund in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
