Charles Henry George, 61, passed away after a sudden cardiac event while playing racquetball, the sport he loved.

Born in Dodge City, Kansas, on October 11, 1964, Charles was the son of Henry and Alice George. He graduated from Dodge City High School and earned a B.A. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Kansas. He went on to build a long career in software design and development.

Charles lived life with energy, generosity, and a deep love for family. He was a devoted husband to Laura Tague, his wife of 27 years, and a wonderful brother and fun uncle who was cherished by his nieces and nephews. Christmas was especially meaningful with Charles, whether through his generous giveaways for people in need or the special Walmart adventures he created for the family.

An accomplished athlete, Charles enjoyed hiking, skiing, biking, and racquetball. His determination was evident in his completion of the grueling 120 mile Triple Bypass, the Evergreen-to-Vail bike ride, this past summer.

The racquetball community mourns the loss of a passionate player, generous sponsor, and dedicated supporter of the sport. Charles was known for his skill on the court and his formidable competitive spirit; he could hold his own against top-level players. Beyond competition, he made an indelible mark by sponsoring tournaments, supporting individual players, and giving back to community events.

Words cannot express all that Charles meant to his friends and family. His accolades, while many, pale in comparison with the qualities which will be missed most. His creative ability to foster fun while giving to others was unparalleled. He was a bright light wherever he went."

He is survived by his wife, Laura (Tague) George; brothers Ron, Bob, and Pat; sister Mary; and 42 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alice George, and his sister, Martha.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with rosary at 7:00 on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Swaim Funeral Home, 1901 6th Ave., Dodge City, KS. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on October 3, 2026, at St Joseph Catholic Church, 221 W 1st Ave, Offerle, KS followed by a burial and luncheon reception at St Joseph Parish Hall, Offerle, Kansas.
