Spearville - Chaten Patrick Tasset, 21, died August 4, 2023 in rural Ford County.  He was born on March 8, 2002 in Dodge City, the son of Allen Tasset and Kim (Torson) George.

Chaten grew up near Spearville and attended Spearville schools where he was active in sports. He graduated in 2020 and went on to attend Dodge City Community College. Chaten was currently enrolled at Oklahoma Panhandle State University where he was working on his farm and ranch management degree. He enjoyed the rodeo life and saddle bronc riding. Chaten also loved his horses and dogs, working cattle and hunting.

He was a member of the Kansas Professional Rodeo Association and National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association.

Chaten is survived by his father, Allen Tasset and wife Brooke of Spearville; mother, Kim George and husband Virgil of Stratton, Colorado; his siblings, Cora Tasset of Hays, Jayger George of Stratton, Colorado, Quaid George of Denver, Colorado, Canyon Hamm & Cody of Medicine Lodge, Tye Croft and Coulter of Dalhart, Texas, James Brack of Mullinville, and Cash Brack of Spearville; his grandparents, David and Rosann Tasset of Spearville and Sue Torson of Knoxville, Tennessee; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rick Torson.

Vigil service will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 7:00 PM. Memorial service will be held at Spearville High School on Friday August 11, 2023 at 10:30 AM with Fr. John Forkuoh presiding. The family requests everyone wear casual or western attire. Memorials are suggested to the Chaten Tasset Memorial Fund for a rodeo or agriculture scholarship in care of the funeral home or Ford County State Bank.
