Obituary

Copeland - Our mom went to heaven on January 18, 2021. Cheryl Donna Blake was born to Donald and Shirley Blake on April 14, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan. She was raised in Detroit with loving parents and graduated from Osborn High School. Her childhood highlights included playing sports, riding horses, and competing in multiple English riding tournaments across Michigan. She was a fierce competitor and loved being on the field or in the barn with her horses.

In 1983, she moved to Idaho Springs, Colorado and worked at Van Eden Ranch and Retreat giving horseback riding lessons and trail rides. She enjoyed her time in the Rocky Mountains while raising her new daughter, Malina. Then in 1987, she moved to Copeland to assist the Nelson family after an accident. While in Copeland, she met Daylen Yost who has been her life companion for 33 years.

In 1990, Daylen and Cheryl moved to work on a cattle ranch about 12 miles south of Minneola. They enjoyed almost 30 years of ranch life while raising Malina and their three boys, Tanner, Trevor, and Trale. While on the ranch, Cheryl had many pets including dogs, goats, horses, ponies, reptiles, cows, birds, pigs, owls, etc. She had the softest heart for animals and wanted to give any animal in need a good home. Her happiest times were when she was spending time with her children and animals or attending a sports game cheering on her Minneola Wildcats. She was her children's biggest fan and pushed them to be the very best they could be both on and off the field. We have many treasured memories of how mom cheered at every ball game, loud and proud. She never missed one of her kid's games.

Additionally, she enjoyed the outdoors taking trips to Colorado to spend a few days up in the mountains or taking her kids fishing at Clark State Lake and Proffitt Lake. She also loved listening to music and singing along explaining the true meaning of the song. Her relationship with God was strong. She prayed every day for her family, friends, and loved ones. Then in 2019, Daylen and Cheryl moved back to Copeland, where she quietly enjoyed her last days.

Cheryl was a beloved mother to her ONE daughter and three sons, as well as grandmother to three grandchildren. Left to cherish precious memories are her husband: Daylen Yost, Copeland; her daughter: Malina Blake and Alex Cardenas, Corona, California and their three children Cristian, Aspynn, and Alex; her sons: Tanner and Kristen Yost, Lindsborg; Trevor Yost, Copeland; Trale Yost, Lakewood, Colorado; her dog, Bandit; and grand dogs, Wiz and Penny. She was preceded in death by her parents.
