Obituary

Dodge City - Chris A. Miller, 77, died June 8, 2025 at his home in Dodge City.  He was born on May 6, 1948 at Dodge City, Kansas the son of Edward B. and Lilly A. (Heyen) Miller.

He attended Miller Grade School, St. Mary's, Dodge City Community College and graduated from Emporia's Teacher College. He worked at E.B. Miller Liquor store during his last year of college. Mr. Miller was drafted into the U.S. Army as a medical corpsman for two years serving in Europe and Germany. He was in charge of DN School's Program and helped select men to go different trade schools. During his military service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. After the service he went to work for National Up John Company working there for eight years as a color coding system for vitamins. He later worked as a national sales manager for Nature Made until they were bought out by a Japanese Company. He worked for smaller drug companies until retiring in 2023. After retiring he went on a seventeen day Caribbean Cruise.

He is survived by one sister Joyce Martin of Houston, Texas; cousins Dale and Rita Bayless of Dodge City and many other cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Lilly Miller and one brother Steve Miller.

Memorial Graveside service will be held at Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Dodge with full military honors by SWKS Funeral Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Military Funeral Honors on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.  Memorials are suggested to the Dodge City Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
