Clara B. "Lou" Love, 88, died December 2, 2011 at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hugoton. She was born on December 29, 1922 in Dodge City, the daughter of Clarence Lee and Alice Mabel (AuBuchon) Carmichael.
Mrs. Love was a lifelong resident of Dodge City, graduating from Dodge City Senior High School and from St. Catherine Hospital Diploma Nursing Program. She was a registered nurse by profession working at St. Anthony Hospital as a surgical nurse and then at Southwest Clinic as an office nurse. She left her profession to assist her spouse with the management of their family business, Bob Love Jewelry.
She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City.
Clara is survived by three daughters; Ramona Dellinger and husband David of Wichita, Alyce Davis and husband Clay of Wichita, and Paula Rowden and husband Jack of Hugoton; two sisters, Mary Beatrice Schaffer and Martha Ann Vogel; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Robert J. Love, her parents; two sisters, Annabelle Carmichael and Genevieve McCarty; five brothers, Oscar, Clarence, Lawrence, Paul, and Joseph Carmichael; and two grandsons, Steve Jackson Dellinger and Joseph Davis.
Vigil Service will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral – 903 Central – Dodge City on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 10:30 AM followed by the funeral mass 11:00 AM with Rev. Pascal Kline presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Monday, December 5, 2011 from noon to 8:00 P.M.
